A Vocational Expert should be fully certified so that you are not surprised in court with the trier of fact dismissing the opinions as erroneous or unreliable.  The certifications that are relevant for hiring a Vocational Expert are the CRC (Certified Rehabilitation Counselor) through the CRC Commission;  CDMS (Certified Disability Management Specialist) through the CDMS Commission and the ABVE (American Board of Vocational Experts) through the ABVE Organization.  These certifications along with the standards of maintaining CEU's (certified educational units) will help ensure the Vocational Expert is one who keeps current and knowledgeable to withstand the scrutiny of being called as an Expert.
